Nuun helps Bill Haas and Keegan Bradley put up a fight until the end at this year’s Northern Trust Open hosted at Riviera CC in Pacific Palisades, California. Bill eventually takes the win, but it wasn’t just handed to him on a silver platter. All day, Bill worked hard to make his way to the very top of the leader board. After signing for a 3 under par 69 he made his way to the driving range to stay loose in the event of a playoff… He knew he wouldn’t get off that easy with Keegan Bradley and last week’s champion, Phil Mickelson, on his heels.
The spotlight was on Keegan Bradley as he walked down the 18th hole clinching his Nuun water bottle (doubt he was nervous or anything) He knew that he would have to birdie 18 to force Bill into a playoff. After taking a few sips of his Fruit Punch Nuun, Keegan puts it in makeable range. Keegan goes on to sink his putt and just to keep it interesting so does Phil making it a 3-way playoff.
All three par the first playoff hole and head to 10 for a do-or-die short par 4. By the looks of their tee shots I would have put them all into the die category. With no one in the fairway, we all held our breath in suspense to see how this would play out. Bill takes a wedge and puts it to 30+ feet from the left rough, Phil goes over the green into a bunker, and Keegan leaves himself with a putt off the fringe. After thinking that it was about to go to the 3rd playoff hole, Bill made an unbelievable putt while Keegan just barely missed his. And that folks is what the game of golf is all about.
Congratulations to Bill and Keegan for their stellar finish!
