Nuun With The 1-2 Punch At Northern Trust Open

Nuun helps Bill Haas and Keegan Bradley put up a fight until the end at this year’s Northern Trust Open hosted at Riviera CC in Pacific Palisades, California. Bill eventually takes the win, but it wasn’t just handed to him on a silver platter. All day, Bill worked hard to make his way to the very top of the leader board. After signing for a 3 under par 69 he made his way to the driving range to stay loose in the event of a playoff… He knew he wouldn’t get off that easy with Keegan Bradley and last week’s champion, Phil Mickelson, on his heels.

The spotlight was on Keegan Bradley as he walked down the 18th hole clinching his Nuun water bottle (doubt he was nervous or anything) He knew that he would have to birdie 18 to force Bill into a playoff.  After taking a few sips of his Fruit Punch Nuun, Keegan puts it in makeable range.  Keegan goes on to sink his putt and just to keep it interesting so does Phil making it a 3-way playoff.

All three par the first playoff hole and head to 10 for a do-or-die short par 4. By the looks of their tee shots I would have put them all into the die category.  With no one in the fairway, we all held our breath in suspense to see how this would play out.  Bill takes a wedge and puts it to 30+ feet from the left rough, Phil goes over the green into a bunker, and Keegan leaves himself with a putt off the fringe. After thinking that it was about to go to the 3rd playoff hole, Bill made an unbelievable putt while Keegan just barely missed his. And that folks is what the game of golf is all about.

Congratulations to Bill and Keegan for their stellar finish!

WA-WA-WANAMAKER!

Our Golf Pros are having a great year out there, to date they have collected over 47 million dollars in winnings and have represented Nuun with 83 top ten placings and 12 wins!

August 14th was a big day for Nuun as Keegan Bradley took the win at the 2011 PGA Championship in Atlanta. It was great to see Keegan play well and finish strong while sipping on Nuun walking up the 18th fairway.

OHHHH if only the Wanamaker could talk. It has been the symbol of the PGA Championship since 1916. It has partied with John Daly, almost burned Jack Nicklaus’ hands, and it has traveled with Walter Hagen. It may not be the most well traveled or have the most names etched into its brilliant sides, but ohhh if the Wanamaker could talk!

After being presented with the historic Wanamaker trophy Keegan, in keeping with its storied history, decided to make a statement of his own with the trophy by Tweeting a photo of the Wanamaker sporting a Red Sox Lid!

Our congratulations to Keegan, keep up the great work out there, and stay hydrated!

PGA Presence is Building

To reassure that we’re more than just a pretty commercial, we attended our first PGA event this month hosted by Nuun athlete and wonderful philanthropist, Davis Love III. The beautiful sea island golf course on the Georgia coast was the venue. Amidst the cursed heat of the south, icy-cold Nuun was a happily received switch-a-roo from the other “standard” drinks on course. We hope to have a few more golf ambassadors out there shortly.
