For the past couple of years, nuun has been the official supplier of electrolyte hydration of the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon, and we're excited to be back for another year! Here are a few reasons why we’re pumped to be the hydration partner of Canada’s largest marathon and multi-day running event, and why you should join us on the start line on May 27 and 28th!
1. Two Gold labels and a Golden Shoe can’t be wrong.
The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is the only running event in North America with two IAAF Gold Label events: the Ottawa 10K and the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon. Last year, it was also awarded a Golden Shoe award from Canadian Running for best race of 2016.
2. Join running royalty.
Every year, Ottawa attracts some of the Canada’s and the world’s top elites, particularly for the Ottawa 10K which is also home of the Canadian 10K Championships. Some of the big names at this year’s 10K include 2012 Boston Marathon champion Geoffrey Mutai, and Canadian Olympians Eric Gillis and Lanni Marchant.
3. This race shirt.
It’s Canada’s 150th birthday and the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is planning some special festivities. This marathon race shirt is sure to be one of the highlights.
4. Views like this.
The Canadian Parliament buildings as you cross the Alexandra Bridge at KM 25 is just one of the many inspiring views on offer during the Ottawa Marathon.
5. There’s a race for everyone in the family.
Whether you’re going after a Boston Qualifying time in the marathon, or want to run with the whole family in the 2K or 5K, with six events there is something for everyone.
6. The spectators
Ottawa has some of the best crowds around. With as many as 200,000 spectators coming out to cheer, the atmosphere is electric.
7. Finally, did we mention beer?
Every finish deserves a celebration and Ottawa has got your covered. From the Celebration Stage with awesome live music to the Beau’s Beer Garden – featuring brews from Ottawa’s legendary craft brewery – your tired legs don’t have far to go to relish the moment. Cheers!
