The Rat City Rollergirls (RCRG) are Seattle’s premiere all-female, flat-track roller derby league. RCRG is composed of about 80 active skaters and many more retired skaters who are still involved. The skaters are divided among four home teams, Derby Liberation Front, Grave Danger, Sockit Wenches, and the Throttle Rockets. In addition, a small number of skilled, dedicated skaters are chosen to represent the league on its fifth team, the Rat City Rollergirls All Stars. Their mission is to provide athletic entertainment that improves their members’ individual athletic ability, self-discipline, and character while promoting the roller derby sport. Their program provides intense training, instruction, and competition, which prepares members to represent Seattle at regional, national, and international competition. The RCRG is also dedicated to providing community outreach through events, activities, and charity partnerships. They are also advocates for similar roller derby leagues, and work to encourage the art and sport of roller derby nationally and internationally.
